Good Neighbors in the Village - Fall 2024
The Good Neighbors in the Village are proud to partner with the Baltimore Area churches. They are a 501©3 organization sponsoring outreach to the citizens of Baltimore/Thurston and surrounding areas. They are funded by donations from area churches and individuals.
35-HOUR GIVE: Good Neighbors in the Village has participated in Fairfield County Foundation’s annual give events on Giving Tuesday and have raised funds to support our work. We hope you will consider making a donation to GNIV this year and help us take advantage of $70,000 in matching funds. Mark your calendar to participate in this year’s 35-HOUR GIVE. Donations must be made on-line or in person and must be made between 8 a.m. on Dec. 3 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 4 to be eligible for a match from the Fairfield County Foundation. Learn more at www.fairfieldcountyfoundation.org.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: Volunteers are always needed for the after-school program. Volunteers are welcome daily, occasionally, or on specific days of the week. They serve approximately 27 elementary students. Volunteers read books to students, play board games and help with homework. No teaching skills needed. They meet after school at Faith Lutheran conveniently located next to the school parking lot. Kay Williamson runs the after-school program and welcomes new volunteers. Contact Kay if you are interested in volunteering, 740-407-7554.
RAMPS: Our ramp team continues to provide ramps in the Baltimore/Thurston area at no cost to the resident. Once a ramp is no longer needed, it is reclaimed and used for future ramps. We thank our volunteer builders for their time and strength. Volunteer builders are always welcome. If you know of a person in need of a ramp, please contact us. These ramps can be temporary or long term. Once the ramps are no longer needed, the team will remove the ramp for future use.
