Sacrifice

by Pastor Mike Adams

As we look at our calendar each month, we usually look for holidays in that month to be able to plan for a day off work or a celebration with friends and family. I suspect many will do this as they look forward to the holiday this month.

Memorial Day, originally was to be set aside as a day to remember the sacrifices of those people in our armed forces who went off to serve our nation and never came home, as they gave their life for our country. Whether our nation was at war or peace, we still honor those who lost their lives on our behalf. They went into service knowing they might never return home.

This Memorial Day, let us honor and remember those who sacrificed on our behalf.

The greatest sacrifice ever made for us was none other than the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf! He left Heaven willingly, knowing he was going to sacrifice his life on our behalf.

The greatest part of his story was that while he laid down his life, he was raised to new life as our conquering king! And as a result, we too will be raised to a glorified body similar to his, to live forever with him!

As we get together with family and friends this Memorial Day, possibly even visiting gravesites, whether we have family who gave their life for our country or not, let us remember what Jesus did for us and rejoice that all who have a personal relationship with him will not be imprisoned in those graves! We too will rise again and for this fact, we can praise God for his divine plan!
