Women in Faith

By Terryann McCoy

The New Zion Women in Faith met on April 10. Peggy Wippel was both hostess and program leader. She provided veggie pizza, nuts, candy, chocolate-whipped topping dessert, and drinks for all to enjoy. Her program closed out the day’s meeting. It was based on Ecclesiastes 3: 1 – 8, with each woman involved in matching index cards bearing one half of a verse to the other half. Peggy gave a hint for each one to get the process started. What a great review of a favorite scripture and discussion of its meaning for everyday living. She closed with a Corrie ten Boom story reminding us that we should never think God doesn’t take care of the little things in our lives.

Thanks to all who attended our Soup and Sandwich Luncheons this winter. Your donations at the March lunch will provide $1320 to assist the Vogt family in their work with Pioneer Bible Translators in Tanzania. A special thanks to those who helped plan, prepare, and serve at each luncheon.

Final plans were made for the Easter Breakfast which will follow the 7:00 AM Sunrise Service on April 20. We need 4 cake bakers for the Senior Citizen’s lunch on May 28. Let Brenda Hanna know if you would like to donate a cake. Noodle making dates were set for July 7, 9, 14, and 16. We can always use help on those days. The group will give $200 for the Allegheny Conference Miracle Offering which will go toward scholarships for men and women studying for the ministry.

A period of time was spent selecting prayer partners, receiving prayer lists, and adding names of persons to everyone’s list. Rhonda Miller and Ann Arebalo closed with prayer.

The next meeting will be May 8 at 3:00 PM in the Sunrise Room of the church. Eva Reid will lead the program, and Denise Hartley will be hostess.
