Pastor’s Pen - Seasons of Life
By Pastor Mike Adams
It seems to me that life defines itself in different terms as we age.
When we were children, life for some was defined as boring in the middle of summer. It was defined and labeled, "The dog days of summer!" Church Camp was usually over, friends were vacationing or traveling, it was just a boring time with little to do in the way of excitement!
Then came the days when for some they were excited that school would soon be starting, while others dreaded it that school would soon be starting. I remember the days when new school clothes had to be purchased and that meant excitement for kids while it meant financial drain to parents who were struggling.
For parents, realizing that their children's days of grade school were over, they felt as if they were entering a new era in family life and their own personal life. Milestones they were called. With an empty nest, parents sometimes would say to themselves, "What's next?" Some parents decided to go back to school themselves! Others may have found that life has a way of deciding for you what comes next.
All kinds of life adjustments seem to pop up from day to day and it can sometimes shock and surprise you! For some, they may see new life beginning and for others life ending. It really does seem that life has or determines its own speed.
As we enter into the last month of summer, whether life is at snail speed or warp speed for you, may I remind you of Proverbs 3:5-6?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
Yes, life has a way of making its own definitions. But leaning wholeheartedly on God will make the definition of life for us easier to understand and navigate!
Blessings friends!
