Shoeboxes

by Linda Wilson

It is the time of the year to start thinking about shoeboxes. Samaritan’s Purse has been collecting boxes since 1993, and New Zion has been packing them since the mid 1990’s.

The display will be set up before October 20th so that you can pick up as many boxes as you can fill. Hopefully many of the New Zion family will purchase school supplies or toys and dolls or hygiene items. Samaritan’s Purse encourages us to pack a “wow!” item. Remember, no tooth paste or candy or liquid. The requested amount to ship a box to a faraway country is $10. Boxes will be collected on Sundays, November 10 and 17.

The Outreach Team plans to put together boxes.  It would be great if you could donate any items for this, but it is so important that you pack your own boxes, too.

In 2023, New Zion sent 124 boxes. Can we beat that this year??? There are 120 plastic boxes and lots cardboard boxes ready for you to fill.

Many children who receive boxes will attend the “Greatest Journey” study. This will teach them about Christianity and Jesus. If they complete the course, they will receive a Bible in their own language and have a chance to make a decision for Jesus. Please pray for the child that will receive your box.
